Where the Eladrin are storied, dragons are legendary. Sightings of dragons are few and far between since their empire ended, leaving them as hearthside tales. When they do appear, it is usually much like a natural disaster – a fortress sacked or a town razed, and then the dragons vanish for another hundred years.
In the north, and especially in Zvezdeln, dragons are regarded with awe, fear, and reverence. In the south, dragons have an unsavory reputation; the Thaneholds remember them as overthrown tyrants. Some madmen and wild-eyed prophets declare that the dragons still manipulate the eastern nations from behind the scenes, but most believe that they have given up on nation-building among mortals.
Only the dragonborn make any real distinction between draconic colors or behaviors. To everyone else, one dragon is as good or bad as another.
A few things are commonly recalled in tales about the dragons:
- Dragons are masters of shapeshifting and magic.
- Dragons never lie, and never forget.
- Dragons are ageless and immortal; even if slain, they return to life eventually.
